BURLESON (CBSDFW.COM) – A single mom with five kids, Holly Baker is often pulled in five different directions.
“It’s always total, hectic craziness,” she said. But getting anywhere these days is difficult. “I’ve had to walk home from work. I’ve had to borrow a car,” said Baker.
The 2011 Chevy Traverse she bought last year is sitting at Superior Auto Repair in Burleson, where she took it months ago for a new engine. “It was only supposed to be a week, but it’s been four months,” she said. “They’ve taken the tires off, they’ve taken the fender off, the bumper off.”
The car was under warranty with Auto Services Company, Inc. On July 13, Baker received an invoice and paid the repair shop, believing the work was complete.
Baker said she’s still hearing excuses for why it’s not. “This broke and that broke and then they told us they lost the part,” she said.
A mechanic at Superior Auto told CBS11 it was only last week he received all the necessary parts for the job.
“I lie in my bed and cry. I just start crying ‘cause I don’t know what to do,” said Baker.
Her 17-year-old daughter bought her own car and helps chauffeur the family. Baker, meanwhile, is still paying off the car she can’t drive.
